Citizens participate in public affairs in a meaningful way, and are able to claim their entitlement and hold the public officials to account, Public institutions at all levels of government are inclusive, responsive and accountable.

UNDP’s current work in the area of inclusive governance spans from support to Rule of law and Human Rights to elections and public administration reform to strengthening local governance etc. In 2015, UNDP launched a new project to support the parliament as well. Issues of inclusive representation, effective accountability, efficient service delivery and responsive planning and monitoring at the local level are at the core of governance programming in Nepal. Our work also includes enhancing access to justice and security institutions while also strengthening their capacity to deliver justice services and promote human rights. Under this thematic area, the following seven programmes are currently being implemented:
